Pricing of meat as of January 2024:
- Chickens: The chickens, which are frozen and can be delivered (within 10 miles of the farm) or picked up at our farm: $3/lb.
- Turkeys: The turkeys are $4.50/lb.
- Eggs: Eggs, which will be available in a couple of months, are $4 a dozen.
- Beef: The overall cost depends on market pricing for hanging weight at the time of processing plus the processing fee paid to the butchers upon pick up at their facility.
- Pork: Pork is sold out at this time; ask to be placed on our meat contact list. The pricing of pork depends on what cuts you want (chops, roasts, ribs, bacon, etc.) from the processing center; the processing fees are paid directly to the butcher when you pick up the meat at their facility. Processing times vary, depending on whether you want smoke-processing or other special processing. We are paid for hanging weight, which is the most common practice for small farms.
Looking for fresh pork, beef, or chicken? We have the meat processed for purchase. If you are looking for free-range chicken, lean beef, or Berkshire pork to feed your family and you live near River Falls, Wisconsin, we have what you are looking for.
P.G. Farmette cattle, which include Holstein and Scottish Highlander, are allowed room to graze and are offered a diet almost entirely of grass. This means healthier meat for you.
We also sell a supply of Berkshire pork mix, along with other pork.
Berkshire pork is a heritage breed of pig, which was discovered over 300 years ago in Berkshire County in the UK. It is known for its rich texture, marbling, juiciness, tenderness, and overall depth of flavor. The meat is said to have a very specific taste, not generic and bland or mild like typical pork.
The Berkshires originated in England. They were specially bred for the King of England for his own personal meat supply, because of the excellence in the meat!
Today Berkshire Pork is one of the most highly sought after pork in the world. Berkshire pork looks and tastes like no other pork. Unlike commodity pork or “The Other White Meat” Berkshire pork is visibly different. It has a darker richer color with an abundance of intramuscular marbling. Its flavor is distinctive with an unparalleled juiciness and tenderness for pork.
